Charley

Charley was born and raised in the United States, growing up among the beautiful mountains and foothills of Northern California. The third of four girls, Charley was her father’s shadow as a child, following him just about everywhere he went— So it came as no great surprise when at a young age, Charley displayed both a serious interest and natural talent in becoming a photographer, just like her dad. Always a go-getter, by the age of 15 Charley had already started her own photography business in order to earn money towards the purchase of her very own camera. Using borrowed equipment from her dad, Charley began refining her photography skills—shooting engagements, family, and senior portraits on weekends and in her spare time. The summers of 2007 and 2008 were spent apprenticing under one of Northern California’s most sought after wedding photographers; there she refined her skills and gleaned valuable high-end experience in the art of wedding photography and photojournalism. In 2006—while attending Brigham Young University for her undergrad—Charley met the man of her dreams. A lot of people throw that phrase around, but anyone who knows Charley, knows that phrase was made literal when Vito Qaqa walked into the picture in all his Rugby-playing glory, and swept Charley right off her feet! By the end of 2009, Charley and Vito were happily married— and in just a few shorts years found themselves with two beautiful children and a newly built house. Life was great . . . but a trip to visit Vito’s family in Fiji stirred something in both of them that they just couldn’t ignore . . . In the spring of 2014, Charley and Vito sold most everything they owned and moved their little family halfway around the world to the paradise of Fiji—all in a committed effort to pursue living their dream life among the beautiful people, culture and landscapes of the Fijian islands. Tadra Productions is the fruit of their labors, talents, and willingness to follow their dreams.

Vito

Vito is a native Fijiian, born in Suva, but spent most of his early years on the beautiful garden island of Taveuni. He performed as a dancer at the Polynesian cultural center in Hawaii, and while playing rugby one day was recruited to play on the mainland. Vito led his team to their first collegiate national championship. It was there that he met and fell in love with Charley… they were married and the rest could be the makings of a feel-good movie, or an exciting rollercoaster ride! Vito’s interest in photography was born when Charley would insist that he take her maternity portraits before the births of their two children, Liam and Layla. Putting just one toe in at first, Vito has since immersed himself in learning the techniques and nuances of great photography by Charley’s side (or over her shoulder) as Charley's second camera and assistant. All who know Vito can't help but love him and his fun- loving spirit. He will always make you laugh and if you try not to smile when you’re around him, you will be unsuccessful!
